AEO agents overview

Updated

Use AEO agents to find and fix issues that affect how AI tools discover and cite your site.

AEO agents are the recommend and apply side of Webflow AEO. They scan your site and surface prioritized recommendations to help AI tools find, understand, and cite your content. You can review and edit each suggestion before applying it — nothing changes on your site until you accept it.

Before you get started

AEO agents require a Team or Enterprise Platform plan and the Workspace AI toggle must be enabled. Learn more about enabling or disabling Webflow AI.

How AEO agents work

AEO agents evaluate your site and surface suggested improvements. After the agents complete their work, recommendations appear in the Recommendations dashboard, grouped into two tiers:

  • Quick wins — higher priority recommendations to act on first

  • More recommendations — lower priority refinements across your site

Each recommendation shows the page or asset it applies to, the suggested change, and its category (such as Discoverability or Accessibility). Broken link recommendations are an exception — they show where the issue is but don't include a suggested fix. For recommendations that update existing content, you'll see a before/after comparison so you know exactly what will change.

You can accept or dismiss recommendations one at a time, select a subset using multi-select, or use Accept all to apply every recommendation in a group at once. Changes are written directly to the relevant surface in Webflow — page settings, CMS items, or assets — and go live when you next publish your site.

Refresh recommendations

To generate recommendations, open your site in Webflow, then:

  1. Go to Insights > Recommendations

  2. Choose Refresh recommendations

Your entire site is scanned for recommendations. When the scan completes, the dashboard updates with your current recommendations. You can see when your recommendations were last updated at the top of the Recommendations dashboard.

Recommendations refresh automatically on a recurring schedule. You can also manually refresh at any time.

Each agent checks your site for a specific type of issue. You can enable or disable agents individually in Insights > Settings > AEO and SEO.

Review and apply recommendations

Selecting a recommendation from the dashboard opens the full list of affected pages or assets for that agent, along with the suggested changes.

For missing content (such as meta descriptions or alt text)

Each row shows the page or asset name and the AI-generated suggestion. You can:

  • Choose Accept to apply the suggestion as-is

  • Choose Dismiss to skip this item

  • Choose Accept all to apply every suggestion in the group at once

For existing content (such as meta descriptions that are too long)

Each row shows the Before and After values so you can compare the current content with the suggested update before committing.

For schema markup

Schema recommendations include an additional Review option. Choosing Review opens a modal in the Recommendations dashboard where you can inspect the generated JSON-LD before accepting it.

Brand context and recommendations

AEO agents use your Workspace's brand context to generate accurate, on-brand suggestions. Organization context (your business name, domain, key people, and locations) informs schema markup generation. Writing context (your brand voice and positioning) shapes how generated copy sounds.

Setting up brand context first gives you better recommendations from the start. Learn more about setting up brand context.

AEO agents and AEO Analytics

AEO agents are the recommend and apply side of Webflow AEO. AEO analytics is the measurement side — it tracks how often your organization is mentioned in AI-generated answers, which AI crawlers visit your site, and how AI-referred visitors engage with your content.

Use AEO agents to review, edit, and apply recommended improvements. Use AEO analytics to measure AI visibility, citations, LLM bot activity, and AI-referred visitor behavior. Learn more about AEO analytics.
