Connect Codex to Webflow

Updated
Requirements

Learn how to connect Codex to your Webflow sites and Workspaces.

You can connect Codex to Webflow through the MCP (Model Context Protocol) server and use it to help design, build, and manage your sites using natural-language prompts. For example, ask Codex to scaffold a new blog section — Codex can create a CMS Collection, add the fields you describe, and generate a set of starter items.

Before you get started

Users with any site role except Reviewer can connect to the Webflow MCP server. The MCP server respects each user’s existing role permissions.

Set up the Webflow plugin in Codex

Codex runs inside the ChatGPT desktop app, and you connect it to your sites and Workspaces using the Webflow plugin. To connect:

  1. Open the ChatGPT desktop app
  2. Switch from ChatGPT to Codex
  3. Click Plugins
  4. Search for Webflow
  5. Next to the Webflow plugin, click Install
  6. In the Connect Webflow dialog, click Continue to Webflow
  7. In the browser window that opens, choose the sites and/or Workspaces you want to give Codex access to
  8. Click Authorize App
  9. Return to Codex

Use built-in skills for common workflows

Codex includes built-in skills for common Webflow workflows. A skill packages the right steps and best practices for a task, so instead of figuring out the right sequence of actions, you describe what you want to accomplish and Codex selects the right skill for you. Examples of skills include:

  • Site audits — review your site for SEO, accessibility, broken links, performance issues, and other optimization opportunities
  • CMS management — create, update, organize, and scale Collections and content
  • Safe publishing — validate changes before you publish, and manage custom code without disrupting your live site
  • Developer workflows — scaffold projects, build reusable components, create Designer extensions, and deploy updates

Because skills use the context of your actual Webflow site, Codex can work with your real Collections, pages, and site structure, not just what you include in a prompt. Using skills doesn't require AI credits.
