How do I resolve the “That domain is already connected to a Webflow site” error?

Updated

Learn why you’re seeing the ‘That domain is already connected’ error and how to fix it.

Custom domains can only be connected to one Webflow site at a time. If you see the error message “That domain is already connected to a Webflow site” when trying to connect your custom domain, it means the domain is currently connected to another site in Webflow.

To resolve this:

  1. Locate the site your custom domain is currently connected to
  2. Go to Site settings > Publishing tab > Production
  3. Click the “more options” dots and click Remove domain
  4. Click Remove when prompted
  5. Repeat steps 3-4 for all instances of your domain
  6. Connect your custom domain to your desired site

Important

The site your domain is connected to may not be in your Workspace(s). If you worked with a designer or developer to create your site, ask them to check if your custom domain is connected to a site in their Workspace. If it is, ask them to follow steps 1-5 above to disconnect it.
