Understand roles and permissions in Webflow.
In Webflow, whether you’re building a site yourself or working as part of a team, your role determines what you can do. Roles define your level of access, and each role comes with a set of permissions — the specific actions you’re allowed to take, like designing pages, editing content, or managing billing.
Your Workspace has two types of roles for team members:
-
Workspace role — defines Workspace-level permissions and which site roles they can be assigned
-
Site role — defines site-level permissions and available actions
Each teammate you add to your Workspace is assigned both a Workspace role and a Site role. The type of seat you assign determines which roles are available to them.
Workspace owners and admins can access the Workspace’s Team settings to manage seats and members. As you add members to your Workspace, you can control who can access sensitive controls (e.g., billing details) or take important actions (e.g., publishing a website) by assigning roles.
