AI translation usage

Track your site’s translation word balance, see when it resets, and know what happens if you run out.

Your Localize add-on includes a monthly allowance of words for AI translation. You can check how many words your site has left at any time, and choose how to keep translating once they run out.

How word allowances are calculated

Each Localize locale you purchase adds a monthly word allowance to your site. Allowances are pooled across the site, so you can use them for any locale:

• 1 Essential locale = 10,000 words per month
• 3 Essential locales = 30,000 words per month
• 1 Advanced locale = 50,000 words per month
• 10 Advanced locales = 500,000 words per month

Translations reused from translation memory don’t use words from your allowance. Learn more about translation memory.

Find your AI translation usage

To check your usage from the site dashboard:

1. Open your site’s dashboard
2. Click Site settings
3. Go to Usage > AI translation usage

To check your usage in Webflow:

1. Open the Localize panel from the left toolbar
2. Click AI translation usage under Localize plan usage

Read your word balance

The Word balance card shows:

• The percentage of your word balance remaining
• Your remaining words out of your monthly total
• When your words reset

Your word balance resets monthly. The card shows how many days remain until your next reset.

Use your free preview

If your site doesn’t have the Localize add-on yet, you get a one-time preview allowance of translated words so you can try element-level AI translation before you buy.

To check your preview words and upgrade:

1. Open AI translation usage using the steps above
2. Check your remaining preview words in the Word balance card — the message “Preview limit does not reset” means you’re in preview mode
3. Click Purchase locales to buy the Localize add-on, or Upgrade plan to review your plan options

When your words run out

If a translation would take your site past its remaining words, that translation still completes. Further translations are then blocked until more words are available.

To keep translating, you can:

• Wait for your monthly reset
• Opt in to use Webflow AI credits to keep translating — once your balance resets, translation uses your words again before any credits
• Purchase more locales — words are pooled across your site, so each new locale adds to the allowance for every locale
