Learn out how to transfer ownership of your Workspace if the current owner leaves your organization.
If the owner of your Workspace leaves your organization, depending on the specific circumstances, there are two possible ways to resolve this and transfer ownership of your Workspace to another user.
Ask the current Workspace owner to send a transfer request
To transfer ownership of the Workspace using this method, the current Workspace owner (the person that’s left your organization) must be contactable and:
- have access to their Webflow account
- have access to the email associated with with their Webflow account
- the new owner must be a member of the Workspace
If all of the above are true, ask the current Workspace owner to complete the Transfer Workspace Owner form.
Important
The new owner must be a member of the Workspace. If they aren't,
ask the current Workspace owner to send the request (including the new
owner's Webflow account email address) through the
Support Portal.
Change the Webflow account owner's details
You can transfer ownership of the Workspace using this method if:
- the email address associated with the current Workspace owner’s Webflow account belongs to your organization — not the individual
- your IT department or email provider can legally give you access to the email associated with the current Workspace owner’s Webflow account
Important
Webflow support cannot help with gaining access to the email associated with the current Workspace owner’s Webflow account.
If all of the above are true, follow these steps to log into the Webflow account and update the owner's details:
- Reach out to your IT department or your email provider's support team and request access to the inbox for the email address in question
- Once you gain access in step 1, go to the Webflow 'Reset your password' page & type in the current Workspace owner's email address
- Click Send instructions
- Open the email and click Change Password
- Type in current Workspace owner’s email address and create a new password
- Click Reset
- Log in using current Workspace owner’s email address and the new password
- Click the Account dropdown
- Go to Account settings > Email & Notifications
- Type in the new owner's email address
- Click Save
- (Optional) Go to Account > Account info to update the owner's first name, last name, and username
What to do if you can’t transfer ownership using these methods
If you can't change the owner of your Workspace using either of the previous two methods, please contact Webflow Support and include as much information as possible about the issue and your organization.
Important
There is no guarantee that Webflow support will be able to transfer ownership of a Workspace. Please refer to our Terms of Service for more information.
