Learn how to define a goal for Analyze and/or Optimize that tracks the clickable page elements.
Click goals track when visitors click the elements you choose. You can use them to focus on the elements your optimization aims to drive engagement with (e.g., Subscribe or Contact us buttons). A conversion is counted once per session — if a visitor clicks multiple targeted elements in a session, only one conversion is counted for that click goal.
Target elements on different pages or multiple pages
Click goals can target as many elements as you'd like across any of the available site pages. While editing the goal, click the Pages dropdown in the context bar to switch pages — not the Pages panel — then select the target elements. The elements you select remain selected as you switch pages.

Pro tip
To track specific element clicks at scale, you can use components. When targeting a component, click All instances to include every occurrence across all pages — new instances you add to site pages will be tracked automatically.
Manage click goals from the Goals page
Analyze and Optimize share the goals you create on the Goals page (if you have both add-ons). These goals are available to add to any Optimize optimization and are included in Analyze results. If you want to use the same success metric across multiple optimizations, create that goal on the Goals page so you can reuse it.

Special handling & FAQs
Targeting buttons and links in a variation
If you want to create a click goal that tracks a button or link you’ll make variations of, it’s recommended that you create the click goal before you create the button or link variants. When you create the click goal first, your variations inherit the goal and automatically track each version of the button or link.
If you create the button or link variants before creating the click goal, you may need to open each variation while editing the goal and add each variant as a tracked element to ensure every instance is counted.
To spot check whether your button or link variants are tracked in the click goal:
- Edit the click goal
- Switch variations using the Optimizations dropdown
- Check that each button or link has the "Added to goal" label — if not, click the button or link to add it
Can I target individual CMS collection list elements?
No, you can’t target individual elements within a CMS collection list. When you add an element to one collection item, that element is repeated across all items in the collection list. If you target it in one item, its counterpart in every other item is included in the goal. You can’t choose specific instances to include or exclude.
Can I track successful Webflow form submissions?
You can create a goal that targets a form’s Submit button. The goal tracks when a visitor clicks the button.
However, the goal does not track whether the form was submitted successfully. If a visitor clicks Submit but the form fails — e.g., due to a bad internet connection — it still counts as a conversion.
