Add new subscribers to Mailchimp from your site

Updated

Use Webflow forms to register new subscribers on Mailchimp.

With Mailchimp, you can create and send marketing emails, newsletters, and targeted campaigns. You can connect Mailchimp to your forms in Webflow to register new subscribers from your site, seamlessly linking two major parts of your marketing strategy.

Before you get started

If you haven’t already, create a Mailchimp account and a Mailchimp audience. You’ll also need to add a form to your Webflow site and add a required input field with Text type: email where site visitors can subscribe.

Get your Mailchimp action URL

  1. Go to your Mailchimp dashboard
  2. Go to Audience > Signup forms
  3. Click Create embedded form
  4. Give your embedded form a name
  5. Choose the audience you want to connect to your Webflow site (if you have more than one Mailchimp audience)
  6. Click Continue
  7. Highlight and copy the URL in the quotation marks after form action= (e.g., https://webflow.us5.list-manage.com/subscribe/post?u=c4efffc4b8128bed17f868b49&id=e941b60721&f_id=008540edf0)

Pro tip

To locate your Mailchimp action URL more quickly, press Command + F (on Mac) or Control + F (on Windows) and search for “form action”.

Configure your Webflow form

  1. Return to your Webflow site
  2. Select the form you want to connect to Mailchimp on the canvas
  3. Go to Element settings panel > Form settings
  4. Paste your Mailchimp action URL in the Action field
  5. Click POST in the Method field
  6. Publish your site

You can submit a test form submission on your published site to confirm the form registers new subscribers in Mailchimp as expected. Note that if your Mailchimp form settings are set to double opt-in, new subscribers (including you, if you’re testing your form) have to confirm their subscription before they’ll be added to your audience contacts.

FAQ and troubleshooting

How can I collect more data in my signup form?

To collect more data in your signup form, learn how to manage Mailchimp’s audience and signup form fields and add corresponding form fields to your Webflow form. Note that your form field names in Webflow must exactly match the Mailchimp tags, so make sure they’re in all caps.

Why is my new subscriber not showing up in my Mailchimp audience contacts?

Mailchimp has both single and double opt-in available — that is, you can choose to automatically add new subscribers to your audience contacts or send new subscribers an email for them to confirm their subscription. If your form settings are set to double-opt in, new subscribers (including you, if you’re testing your form) have to confirm their subscription before they’ll be added to your audience contacts.

Can I embed a Mailchimp form on my site instead of connecting a Webflow form to Mailchimp?

Yes, you can create an embed a Mailchimp form using a custom code embed. Note that the code embed element is only available to users with active Workspace plans or on sites with active Site plans.
