Analyze & Optimize tracking settings

Updated

Set Analyze & Optimize tracking to on, opt-in, opt-out, or off.

Analyze and Optimize share tracking settings. When tracking is enabled for a visitor, Optimize variations are allowed to run, and analytics from their session are allowed to be recorded.

Consent and available tracking options

Depending on where your visitors are located, you may need to give them the option to control data tracking — either by allowing them to opt out or requiring them to opt in. You can change your tracking settings at any time. Tracking is set to Off by default. When you toggle the tracking setting to On, you can choose from these tracking defaults:

  • Always track visitors (default) — tracking is always on for your visitors
  • Let visitors opt out — tracking is automatically on for visitors, unless they opt out
  • Don’t track by default — tracking is automatically off for visitors, unless they explicitly opt in

Important

Site owners are responsible for deciding their own policy on site tracking and whether a consent management solution is necessary to comply with privacy laws like GDPR and CCPA. If you choose Let visitors opt out or Don’t track by default, you’ll need a consent management solution to allow visitors to opt in or out of tracking. Otherwise, Analyze and Optimize won’t function properly. Learn more about compliance with privacy laws like GDPR and CCPA.
