Learn how to generate sample Collection items using Webflow AI.
Before you begin
Generating Collection items with Webflow AI requires a Site plan that includes CMS access (Starter, CMS, Business, or Enterprise). It isn't available on Basic Site plans, as they don't include a CMS.
You can use Webflow AI to generate sample Collection items — either individually from the canvas or in bulk from within an empty Collection. This helps you populate your Collections with contextually relevant content so you can start designing right away, without relying on placeholder data. Webflow AI is available for designers and content editors.
Generate sample Collection items in bulk
When a Collection is empty, you can quickly populate it by generating sample items in bulk with Webflow AI:
- Open the CMS panel
- Click the empty Collection you'd like to generate items for
- Click Generate sample items
- Choose 5 items, 10 items, or 20 items
- (Optional) Enter a prompt describing the items you'd like to create
- Click Generate
Webflow AI will generate contextually relevant items based on your input so you can start designing right away. Generated items are set to Queued to publish status.
Note
Webflow AI won't generate content for some fields (e.g., image, option, reference). Placeholder content will be used for unsupported fields.
Create a sample Collection item from the canvas
You can use Webflow AI to create a sample Collection item directly from the canvas:
- Open the Pages panel
- Click a Collection page (e.g., Blog Posts Template)
- Click the Collection items dropdown in the top bar
- Click the "New page" icon
- Choose Generate new [Collection name] page
- (Optional) Enter a prompt describing the item you'd like to create
- Click the "Create item" icon if you entered a prompt, or click Generate without a prompt if you didn't
Webflow AI will generate a single Collection item set to Draft status. You can then edit and refine the content before publishing.
