Markdown for AI agents

Updated

Learn how to make your site more readable to AI agents.

Markdown for agents automatically converts your site’s HTML into Markdown when AI agents request your content — helping ensure your content is understood as intended.

As AI agents increasingly browse the web, content needs to be delivered in formats they can easily understand — not just raw HTML. Markdown for Agents enables automatic HTML-to-Markdown conversion for large language model (LLM) requests. This helps ensure your content is interpreted correctly while reducing unnecessary complexity and bandwidth usage.

Providing Markdown instead of HTML helps:

  • Improve content clarity — ensures AI agents interpret your content as intended
  • Maintain narrative control — reduces misinterpretation of structured content
  • Optimize performance — delivers cleaner, more efficient responses to LLMs

How Markdown for agents works

When an AI agent like an LLM requests your site’s content:

  1. Webflow detects the request
  2. Your site’s HTML is automatically converted into Markdown
  3. The Markdown version is returned to the requesting agent

This process happens automatically — no manual setup or content changes required.
