Convert block, typography, and inline text elements to other types and keep their styles.
Element conversion lets you switch an element to a different type without rebuilding it. Your styles and settings carry over, so you can change a Section or Link Block to a Box, or a heading to a paragraph, in a couple of clicks.
Convert block elements
You can convert block elements to other block elements using the on-canvas menu or Quick find. A Box can be converted to a Section, Link Block, or Custom Element. A Section or Link Block can be converted to a Box.
To convert a block element:
- Select the block element you want to convert on the canvas
- Right-click the element
- Hover over Convert to
- Choose the block element type you want from the list of available conversions
To convert block elements with Quick find:
- Press Control + E (on Windows) or Command + E (on Mac) to open Quick find
- Type in “Convert to” followed by the name of the element type you want (e.g., “Convert to box”)
- Press the Enter key
The options you see depend on the element you selected.
Convert typography elements
Typography elements, such as headings, paragraphs, and block quotes, can be converted to other typography elements while keeping their existing content and styling.
To convert a typography element:
- Select the typography element you want to convert on the canvas
- Right-click the element
- Hover over Convert to
- Choose the typography element type you want from the list of available conversions
You can also convert typography elements with Quick find, using the same steps as for block elements.
Convert inline text elements
Inline text elements, such as bold, italic, and span tags, can be converted to other inline text elements within a typography element.
To convert an inline text element:
- Double-click the typography element that contains the inline text element you want to convert
- Select the inline text element
- Right-click the selected inline text element
- Hover over Convert to
- Choose the inline text element type you want from the list of available conversions
Note
The available conversions for inline text elements depend on the current formatting of the selected text. For example, if the text is already wrapped in a bold tag, the bold option doesn’t appear in the on-canvas menu.
